I’m Andy Russell, a professional magician based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, with over 40 years of experience entertaining audiences.

From wedding receptions and private parties to corporate events, care homes and community occasions, I use incredible close-up magic, humour and audience interaction to create unforgettable moments across Yorkshire and beyond.

For me, magic is about more than amazing tricks. It’s about bringing people together, creating laughter and giving guests something extraordinary to remember.

MEET ANDY

My love of magic began when I was around seven or eight years old. My Uncle Harry would visit our family every Saturday and, although he wasn’t a professional magician, he would show us little tricks and teach me some of the things he knew. I became fascinated by card magic and started learning everything I could.

My dad would take me to the library, where I would borrow books about magic and then show Uncle Harry what I had learned. He was impressed enough to take me to Davenport’s magic shop in Charing Cross, London. Seeing professional magicians demonstrating magic for the first time was incredibly exciting and I was hooked.

As the years went by, my fascination with magic grew into a real passion. I spent countless hours practising card tricks, learning new techniques and studying the performances of magicians I admired. What started as a childhood fascination gradually became something I knew I wanted to pursue seriously.

Over more than 40 years, I’ve had the privilege of performing for people in all kinds of settings - from intimate gatherings and private parties to weddings, corporate events and larger celebrations. What I enjoy the most is the reaction; that moment when someone genuinely cannot believe what they have just seen.

Today, my style of magic is all about people. I love getting close to an audience, involving them in the magic and creating moments they can share an remember. Whether it’s a small group around a table or a room full of guests, my aim is always the same - to create a little wonder, plenty of laughter and an experience people will talk about long after the event.

I’m also a proud member of The Magic Circle, one of the world’s most respected magic organisations. Being part of it is something I’m incredibly proud of and reflects the passion and dedication I’ve had for magic throughout my life.

We were all absolutely blown away by his talent. I was told he was good but that was an understatement. Andy is mind blowing!

A LIFE IN WONDER: THE STORY OF A MAGICIAN

Life rarely follows the path we expect.

In a Life In Wonder: The Story Of A Magician, I look back over the experiences that have shaped my life - from childhood and family to love, friendship, difficult times and more than 40 years in the world of magic.

Behind the smiles and performances is a personal story of the highs and lows, unexpected turns and the challenges that life can bring. Through memories, photographs and stories across the years, I share the moments that have made me who I am, with honesty and emotion.

This isn’t a story about having a perfect life. It’s about picking yourself up when life knocks you down, finding reasons to laugh and love, and continuing to follow your passions.

Because sometimes, the greatest trick of all is simply making it through.

A life in magic, memories, heartbreak and hope.
